Booking an Appointment

You will be registered with the practice but will be given a usual doctor to see. We like to see our own patients whenever possible as this improves continuity of care.

Routine Appointments

We currently allow booking of appointments up to two weeks in advance with any GP or 3 weeks in advance with your usual doctor..

For Book on the Day Appointments

If you need to be seen on the day for a more urgent appointment, we ask patients to telephone at 8am for a morning appointment and at 2pm for an afternoon/evening appointment.  Our reception staff are trained to ask a series of questions - please be as co-operative as you can with this process. It is aimed at helping you get the most appropriate service to meet your needs. Our staff are all trained to offer this service and act according to our instructions and will treat any information as confidential.

Online appointment booking

You can book appointments online if you register for our Patient Online Services.  During January 2020, however, we will be changing clinical systems and therefore our Online Services will be changing.  We would ask any new users to register for Online Services after 27th January 2020.  Current users will not be able to use Online Services after 10th January 2020 until we have our new service provider in place in early February 2020.

Cancelling your appointment

Please let us know if plenty of time so your appointment can be offered to someone else who may need it. You can do this online here.  If we have your mobile telephone number and you receive appointment reminders via text, you will also be able to cancel your appointment this way.

We provide access to other HUB sites for patients to book evening, weekend and bank holiday appointments

Patients may book appointments with GPs in Dartford, Gravesham and Swanley.  These HUBs are located across the three areas and give patients the opportunity to have an appointment at a time to suit them.

Appointments, until 8pm Monday to Friday, and on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays, may be booked in advance during practice opening hours.

The HUB appointments are available at The Oaks on Mondays, but when attending other HUBs the health professionals treating you will be able to see your full medical records, providing consent is given.  In addition to the Monday HUB at The Oaks, the extended service will be available at White Horse Surgery, Northfleet, Temple Hill Surgery, Dartford, and The Cedars Surgery, Swanley. These appointments are for non-urgent routine care. If you need medical assistance when your practice is closed, call NHS 111.

These extended hours for pre-bookable appointments are offered alongside the existing ‘walk-in’ service at White Horse Surgery and Walk-In Centre, Northfleet, where patients can wait to see a GP without an appointment.

Please ask Reception for further details.

Self Care and When we are closed

Can we also remind you that the local chemists in Swanley offer a minor ailment service for such illnesses as cold sores, conjunctivitis, insect bites, hayfever and sore throats. They can advice and offer treatment without the need for a prescription from the surgery. Normal prescription charges and exemptions apply.

Please also contact NHS Direct for advice on 111

A triage nurse will assess your situation and take appropriate action. This could simply be by offering advice or where necessary by making arrangements for you to be seen by a doctor.

Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.

There are regular academic half day training sessions for surgery staff provided by our CCG.  When these take place there will be no clincal cover at the surgery and patients will be asked to call NHS 111 if they require urgent medical assistance that cannot wait until the next day.
